Access to broadband services has opened new opportunities for the delivery of digital products to ships. The volume of email traffic is growing at unprecedented rates as access to internet connectivity is increasing.

EmailNovaco services distributed by email are normally sent on a scheduled basis or may be requested on demand 24/7. Data traffic is kept to a minimum by sophisticated data reduction techniques which have been shown to reduce files down to 10% of their original size.

Minimal File Size

We pride ourselves on the substantial data reduction we offer.  Reduced file sizes remove the need to customise updates. With Novaco you can receive your weekly Notices to Mariners and tracings for the worldwide range of Admiralty charts for a fraction of the file size alternative providers offer.

Minimal file sizes

With Novaco you do not need to disclose the charts and publications you use, you do not need CDs to fill up missing data and you do not need to worry that the supplier will not send you the right corrections.

With Novaco, access to email does not have to be on the same PC where the update/data is going to be used. We recognise that many ships have a dedicated communications PC to send and receive emails but use a different PC for navigational matters.

Novaco software provides you with the flexibility to transfer updates received by email to the navigation PC running your Novaco services. Data may be ECDIStransferred over the local network (if available) or by using a portable memory device such as a USB memory stick.

Customisation not Required

Unlike competitor products Novaco does not require knowledge of each customer's folios. Updates are packed so that they include all the available correction information in a highly compact file structure.  Selection and customisation is done off shore at the customer's site by the client software.

Our approach provides complete flexibility of operation. It removes the difficulty of discrepancies between the customer and supplier records that are often present when chart updates need to be matched to frequent changes of trading areas.

Updates on Demand 24/7

Weekly updates may be received on a scheduled basis every Wednesday or on an ad hoc basis at any time.

The facility is particularly useful when reception problems on board constrain emails or satellite broadcasts to reach the vessel.

Hardware failures, downtime of email services, trading outside satellite coverage and shipyard operations are typical cases when our updates on demand are found invaluable.

Email is one of the most dominant communication channels today and deals exceptionally well with the diversity of content and operations across different time zones. Email attachments can have any conceivable content and Concenience can be used to deliver, among other things, weekly Notices to Mariners, ENC updates, book updates and even books and charts.
